“I had the pleasure of working with Woody Chow when we were at Samsung Research America together. Woody transferred to my team and worked for me for about 3 months. During this time he worked building OpenGL ES and Vulcan drivers for Samsung’s GPU project. Driver development was a new endeavor for Woody but he jumped in and worked hard. He got along well with the team and contributed a lot to the project. I would have liked to continue working with Woody but, I ultimately left the project. Before Woody transferred to my team, he worked on another part of the project with another team. During this time, I had many opportunities to interact with Woody as our teams were working together as parts of a larger effort. This project involved a lot of innovation and research. Woody did quite well both in coming up with new and innovative ideas as well as prototyping and implementing the ideas in the project’s simulator. Because of his good work I was more than happy to have him on my team when he requested to transfer. Overall, I’ve found Woody to be a very capable engineer, able to take on anything that’s been thrown at him. He’s smart, hard working, adaptable and a great team player. I’d hope to be able to work with Woody again in the future. ”

Motion Based Adaptive Rendering
Issued US 20150379727
An apparatus, system and method is provided to determine a motion of pixels in local regions of a scene, classify the motion into a speed category, and make decisions on how to render blocks of pixels. In one implementation the motion in a tile is classified into at least three different speed regimes. If the pixels in a tile are in a quasi-static speed regime, a determination is made whether or not to reuse a fraction of pixels from the previous frame. If the pixels are determined to be in a…

Adaptive desampling in a graphics system with composited level of detail map
Issued US 20150379688
In a graphics system regions of a frame are analyzed to determine local regions of the frame in which adaptive desampling may be performed. In one implementation a standard sampling scheme includes at least one sample per pixel and regions that are adaptively desampled have one sample for a block of pixels having a size of at least four pixels. A level of detail map is generating to identify regions in which desampling may be performed. The level of detail map may be based on detecting motion…
